BUCHAREST (Romania), September 1 (SeeNews) – Zentiva Group Romania said on Thursday that its revenue increased by 8% year-on-year in the first half of 2022 – a period during which it invested 2.2 million euros ($2.2 million) to modernize and expand its production facilities.
The group achieved a consolidated turnover of 553.8 million lei (114.5 million dollars / 114.1 million euros) in the first half of 2022, mainly due to the increase in sales of pharmaceutical products without prescription, against colds and flu, the digestive system and the nervous system, Zentiva Group Romania said in a statement.
The group’s exports increased by 13% year-on-year in the first six months of 2022. Zentiva exports pharmaceutical products from Romania to countries such as Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and more recently Spain.
Given the increase in production costs and the restrictive regulatory environment, the group is counting on the sustained growth of exports to maintain the solidity and development prospects of its companies, as well as the resources necessary for the annual growth plans. investment. Since last year, the prices of raw materials and excipients have increased by 20% to 60%, packaging by 15% to 20%, transport by 250% to 300% and energy and gas prices from 100% to 150%, the group said.
In Romania, the Zentiva group includes Zentiva SA [BSE:SCD]Labormed-Pharma, Labormed Pharma Trading (formerly Alvogen Romania), Be Well Pharma SRL and Solacium Pharma, the latter being a distributor of food supplements, medical devices and OTC products.
Zentiva Group Romania employs 1,250 people, including approximately 800 in the production operations of the group’s two factories in Bucharest.
The Romanian entity is part of the Zentiva Group, which employs more than 4,700 people across Europe and has four manufacturing sites – in Prague, Bucharest and Ankleshwar, as well as two R&D centers in Prague and Ankleshwar.
Shares of Zentiva SA traded down 0.96% to 2.06 lei on the Bucharest Stock Exchange at 1:08 p.m. CET on Thursday.
