Meghan King breaks down in tears!
The reality TV star got emotional on Instagram while sharing the difficulties she faced as the mother of a son with cerebral palsy.
In the candid post, the 37-year-old artist opened up about her family’s situation and why she rarely speaks out about their issues.
Meghan King doesn’t like being ‘defined as the mother of a child with cerebral palsy’
On Thursday, March 10, “The Real Housewives of Orange County” alum posted a tearful selfie of herself after picking up her son Hart from school.
The TV personality was makeup-free, sporting a casual look with a pink headband as the toddler ate snacks in his secure car seat.
The entertainer, who shares Hart, twin brother Hayes and daughter Aspen with ex-husband Jim Edmonds, opened up about how his son’s cerebral palsy affects the whole family.
The mother-of-three wrote: ‘I don’t like being defined as the mother of a child with cerebral palsy. In fact, I am actively working against it.
The Bravo alum admitted that she’d rather focus on Hart’s performance than share the challenges he faced. But it was hard to give herself and her other children the same courtesy.
The 37-year-old confessed that the needs of the family could not be separated from her son’s health issues as they were linked. His caption read:
“Although CP is defined as a motor disability, its symptoms manifest in a plethora of other ways. Today is the second day in a row Hart has had to leave school for misbehavior.
The reality star continued, “It not only makes me unable to work during this short school window, but it leaves me feeling frustrated and helpless for both of us.”
Despite the hardships she endured, nothing frightened the doting mother more than “the unknown” and the doubts that plagued her mind. The Missouri native wrote:
“Is his environment too incoherent? Doesn’t he get enough attention? How do you balance your needs with other household needs? Is there a balance? Is there a solution?”
The ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ star also worried that happiness was not achievable and her loved ones, especially Hart, were stuck in a “lifetime of rollercoaster behaviors, therapy rides and erratic emotions.”
“The unknown is dreadful. How do I keep him integrated into normal schooling when he acts violently or disruptively? How? Thank you for attending my depressing TED Talk,” King concluded in his post.
Naturally, fans and celebrities responded positively to this heartfelt caption with supportive comments and well wishes for Hart and his mother.
The ‘Resale Royalty’ alum was surprisingly ‘relieved’ by his son’s diagnosis
PEOPLE previously reported that the toddler was diagnosed with hypotonic cerebral palsy in October 2020. The TV personality broke the news via a blog post written in honor of World Cerebral Palsy Day.
At the time, the ‘RHOC’ star confessed that she felt “relieved” after finding out about Hart’s condition because she knew it would happen from the day she “searched for the right thing. on Google”. The blogger wrote:
“I knew it was CP since Hart was a few months old. I just knew. Hart’s new diagnosis really doesn’t mean anything different and doesn’t change anything. It just allows him to continue receiving the therapy he is already receiving.
The reality star also said her son will live a “full and independent life” no matter what challenges he may face.
The doting mother also hoped Hart wouldn’t hide her condition but would “wear it as a badge of honour” and inspire others with her accomplishments.
King gave an update on his son’s health last year, telling the outlet that his “miraculous child” was doing “brilliant” thanks to therapy and support from his siblings.
The artist’s top priority has always been his children, like The Blast shared that the 37-year-old’s New Year’s resolution revolves around her children.
Take to Instagram, the ‘Access Hollywood Live’ star shared a sweet photo of her kids playing at the beach and said she’ll be spending 2022 being a super mom.
The touching post came shortly after the reality TV star ended her brief marriage to President Joe Biden’s nephew, Cuffe Owens.
