Dr. Barbara ten Brink is a 49-year-old science educator. Her novel, Springtime with Rachel Carson, is the culmination of her science education and her love of nature. She served as director of the Austin Regional Science Fair, which served as a model for the Science Book Fair. The City of Austin presented Dr. ten Brink with the Distinguished Service Award. She received the Conservator of the Colorado River Award which she shared with Lady Bird Johnson posthumously. She is a Fellow of the Texas Academy of Sciences.
